|City University of New York – Graduate Center – Associate or Full Professor (Senior Historian of Science)|
Location: New York, United States
Institution Type: College/University
Position Type: Associate or Full Professor
The Ph.D. Program in History at The Graduate Center of the City University of New York invites applications for a senior historian of science with a specialization in the history of science and/or technology in the United States or Europe, with a preferred focus upon the 20th century.
The Graduate Center, which is the Ph.D.-granting institution of CUNY, is devoted to advancing original research and training graduate students in over 30 fields in the humanities, social sciences and sciences. This position is part of one of The Graduate Center’s three multi-disciplinary initiatives in Science Studies, Globalization and Social Change, and the Study of Religion. We expect that during the next three years this initiative will result in the hiring of six scholars (in both the humanities and social sciences) doing groundbreaking interdisciplinary work in Science Studies. The successful candidate, therefore, must have demonstrated interdisciplinary interests and proven ability to work collaboratively.
The tenured appointment will made at the rank of Associate or Full Professor and will begin in Fall 2010. A particularly strong candidate may be nominated as a Distinguished Professor.
Review of applications will begin on October 1, 2009. Please send a letter of application, curriculum vitae, and the names and contact information for at least three references to: History of Science Search Committee, Ph.D. Program in History, CUNY Graduate Center, 365 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10016.
