Radioactive rain or medical miracle -- what's the truth about radiation? Scientists and risk experts go head to head over the value and safety of nuclear technologies. How do scientists and the media shape our opinions?

Speakers include:

  • Keith Baverstock, University of Kuopio, Finland, formerly senior radiation advisor to the World Health Organisation and recently to the UK government’s Committee on Radioactive Waste Management
  • Brian Wynne, Professor of Science Studies at Lancaster University and the author of Rationality and Ritual: The Windscale Inquiry and Nuclear Decisions in Britain, published in 1982 as part of the BSHS Monograph Series
  • Mike Partridge, a cancer research doctor from the Department of Physics at the Institute of Cancer Research & Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust
