Online Conference Registration for Three Societies 2008

Conference Registration is now closed

Conference registration for the 2008 Three Societies Meeting is now closed.

Further information

Programme. All advance versions of the conference programme should be treated as provisional: the Society reserves the right to change any aspect of the programme and other arrangements where good reason calls for this to be done. Please note, in particular, that in the event of speaker cancellations, we may change timings (including dates) for sessions or individual papers in the interests of maximising presentation time and maintaining a coherent programme. If you are registering as a speaker, and will be attending only part of the conference, you should inform us in advance so that we can avoid any availability problems. The version of the programme on the Society's website will be updated at regular intervals.

Cancellation. The Society is obliged to commit resources to the administration of the conference and we reserve the right to refund only a proportion of any payment made if you cancel your booking before the event. No refunds will be given after Tuesday 1 May 2008, except under extraordinary circumstances (at the Society's discretion.)

Acknowledgement. A booking acknowledgement will be sent following payment. Certificates of attendance will be produced, on request, at the conference itself.

Extra nights. It is not possible to book extra nights through the Society. Extra nights at Keble can be booked through www.OxfordRooms.co.uk, although availability is limited. If booking this way please indicate in the notes section that your will be attending the History of Science Meeting. Other accommodation can be located through www.visitoxford.org or the standard on-line booking services, for example Expedia, ebookers or HotelConnect.

Double and family rooms. Attendees requiring other kinds of accommodation can find information about accommodation in Oxford at www.visitoxford.org. They should note that hotel accommodation in the centre of Oxford is limited and the city attracts large numbers of visitors during July.

Accessibility. If you require a room on the ground floor, this can easily be arranged, provided you notify us at the time of booking. If you are a wheelchair user, please contact us in advance to discuss your needs. The conference facilities at Keble College are wheelchair-accessible, but the availability of on-site accommodation suitable for wheelchair users is limited.

Childcare. Details of childcare providers local to the conference venue can be obtained by telephoning Childcare Link on 0800 096 0296, or from www.childcarelink.gov.uk. Note: while the Society understands that the Child Information Service and Childcare Link are a reliable source for childcare information, the Society does not accept responsibility or liability from using either of these services.

Grants. Student members of BSHS may apply to the Society's Butler-Eyles Fund for contributions towards travel costs associated with attending this conference. All members of BSHS with childcare or other dependent's care responsibilities may apply to our conference care grants scheme for financial assistance. Further details are available at www.bshs.org.uk/grants. For student members of CSHPS (SCHPS) who are presenting papers at the conference, there are a limited number of travel grants of $200 apiece for qualified presenters to offset their travel costs from Canada. Applications for these can be made at the conference; details will be posted at www.cshps.ca. Student members of the HSS should contact info@hssonline.org regarding possible grants.

Concessions. We regret that we are only able to offer reduced rates to students attending this conference.

More information. Further details, including directions for travelling to Oxford and advice on things to see and do in city, will be sent to all registered attendees in June. Useful information will also be posted on the Society's website.

Queries about the booking process should be sent to the Executive Secretary: postal address as above; email lucy.tetlow@bshs.org.uk; telephone +44 (0)1603 516236.
