This form is provided for new applicants: existing members should see the online membership renewals form.

If you have a Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, Switch, Visa Debit or Delta debit/credit card, you can join the BSHS online through our secure server facility (more information including terms and conditions). Simply choose from the options below, and proceed by clicking the button at the bottom of this page.

Membership rates

Please choose the appropriate membership class and location:

Membership class Resident in Europe Resident elsewhere

Ordinary membership (first year): introductory offer available to all new members £33 £41

Ordinary membership (first year): special offer for HSS members. Please provide your HSS membership number here: £20.50 £24.50

Associate membership (student/unemployed/retired). Please indicate your status here: £20 £27

Notes: student membership rate is limited to five years per member. Students and unemployed members should provide evidence of status, such as a copy of a student or entitlement card: please send this separately as a digital image to membership@bshs.org.uk, or as a hard copy by post to the Executive Secretary. Retired members’ rate is available to those who have previously been members for four years or more (and are of retirement age.)

Gift Aid

If you are a UK taxpayer, you can help us by requesting Gift Aid on your subscription/donation, benefiting the Society by 28 pence in the pound at no cost to yourself. We will supply the relevant forms on application. Non-UK taxpayers should not select this option.

Butler/Eyles Fund contribution

The Butler/Eyles Fund is maintained by members' donations, and provides support towards the travel expenses of student members attending BSHS conferences. If you would like to make a contribution to the fund, please do so here.
