Cybermuseology, AVICOM Fiamp conference october 16 – 17 2008, Ottawa-Gatineau, Canada, Universite du Quebec en Outaouais
– Come and celebrate new technologies and innovation from the world’s museum industry.
The International Council of Museums (ICOM) and its International Committee for Audiovisual, Image, Sound and New Technologies (AVICOM) in partnership with the Department of Canadian Heritage through the Canadian Heritage Information Network, the Université du Québec en Outaouais, and Idéeclic, present the 2008 Festival International de l’Audiovisuel & du Multimédia sur le Patrimoine (Fiamp).
The festival is presented in a different country every year and this marks the first time Fiamp comes to Canada. The festival will be held on October 16 and 17 at the Université du Québec en Outaouais.
The Fiamp features two components: a competition and a conference. Fiamp 2008 promises to celebrate and recognize the very best in web and multimedia projects produced by heritage and cultural institutions from around the world. This two day event will feature world class educational presentations under the theme Cybermuseology: A Contemporary Practice by Museums. Cybermuseology is helping to bring museology into a new era which has forced the industry to review its methods of dealing with the dissemination of information, education, collections, research and leadership. The event is a unique opportunity to join experts from the museum industry to discuss the evolution of cybermuseology and its future.
Heritage and cultural institutions are not only encouraged to attend the event but also submit a project to the Fiamp 2008 competition. The deadline to submit a project is September 2, 2008.
