Calling contributing authors to write for the Encyclopedia of 20th Century Technology, to be published by Routledge in October 2004. The Encyclopedia will be a two-volume work and will contain over 400 entries describing individual technologies and products. The Encyclopedia will address broad questions of technological systems, such as the context in which the various technologies were developed, discussions of any controversies and schools of thought, comparisons between different political and economics systems, and the various ways in which different nations have attempted to make and apply science and technology policies.
Available articles range from 1000 to 3000 in word length. Our upcoming production schedule requires that we offer relatively short deadlines (6-8 wks). We offer a complimentary copy of the Encyclopedia per the first 1000 assigned words, and an honorarium of $75 for every 1000 words thereafter. Should you agree to contribute, we will mail you the contributor agreement for your signature. Article subjects range from Batteries to Dairying to Quantum Electronic Devices to Thyristors, among several others. A complete unassigned list will be forwarded to you upon response to this posting. For more information regarding style guidelines and sample articles, please visit the project website at http://tech.routledge-ny.com/. Please email responses to this posting to [email protected]
If you have any questions please let us know. If you are unable to participate, we would welcome your suggestions of other outstanding academics or scholars as potential contributors.
We look forward to hearing from you and to adding your name to our list of distinguished contributors.
