The Department seeks to appoint a full-time lecturer in the history and philosophy of science. Candidates should be able to teach courses in history of modern physics, philosophy of physics, or general philosophy of science. The successful applicant must hold a PhD in an appropriate subject by the start of appointment (1 September 2005). This fulltime appointment carries a three year probationary period. Salary will be on the Lecturer A pay scale, plus London Allowance.
The successful applicant will be expected to be active in research, and in teaching and supervision at both undergraduate and graduate levels. The Department encourages strong interdisciplinary connections both in research and teaching. The position also will involve pastoral and administrative duties as appropriate.
