If you have a Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, Switch, Visa Debit or Delta debit/credit card, you can join the BSHS online through our secure server facility (more information including terms and conditions). Simply choose from the options below, and proceed by clicking the button at the bottom of this page.

Credit card, debit card or cheque by post: fill in the membership application form only and send it to us (enclosing cheque if appropriate.) We can accept cheques in pounds sterling, US dollars or euros; international card payments will be drawn as the pounds sterling equivalent.

Membership rates

 Notes: student membership rate is limited to five years per member. Students and unemployed members should provide evidence of status, such as a copy of a student or entitlement card: please send this separately as a digital image to membership [at] bshs [dot] org [dot] uk, or as a hard copy by post to the Executive Secretary. Retired members’ rate is available to those who have previously been members for four years or more (and are of retirement age.)

Gift Aid

If you are a UK taxpayer, you can help us by requesting Gift Aid on your subscription/donation, benefiting the Society at no cost to yourself. By selecting this option you agree to have the BSHS to treat all donations you have made for this tax year and for the previous six tax years prior to this declaration, until you notify us otherwise, as Gift Aid donations.

You must pay an amount of Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax at least equal to the tax that the charity reclaims on your donation in the appropriate tax year.

Butler/Eyles Fund contribution

The Butler/Eyles Fund is maintained by members' donations, and provides support towards the travel expenses of student members attending BSHS conferences. If you would like to make a contribution to the fund, please do so here.
