The Institut d’Histoire et de Philosophie des Sciences et des Techniques (http://www-ihpst.univ-paris1.fr/) announces a one-year post-doctoral fellowship, starting on September 1st, 2010, within the framework of the project “Epistemology and History of Psychotherapies and Psychopathologies in the 20th century”, coordinated by Prof. Françoise Parot (University of Paris Descartes, CERMES3). Projects may concern any relevant subject, but an interest in researching the archives of French psychiatrists or psychoanalysts such as Daniel Lagache or Didier Anzieu would be an advantage. Applicants should be willing to participate in preparing a volume of historical essays edited by Prof. Parot, and participate and eventually help organize the seminars of the project “Philosophy, History, and Sociology of Mental Medicine ” (http://www.phs2m.cnrs.fr/). During his or her tenure, the post-doctoral fellow will make at least one oral presentation in the seminar “Epistemological History of Psychotherapies in the 20th century in their relation to Psychopathologies” (http://www.psychother.fr).
Applicants should have a completed doctorate in philosophy and/or history of science; undergraduate studies in psychology would be desirable but are not required. Applicants must have good reading and speaking command of French, and of English.
Applications (in French or English) should include a 1000-word research project and a curriculum vitae. Please submit materials by December 15th, 2009 to Prof. Françoise Parot.
