Panelist sought for 2005 Organization of American Historians conference: panel on ‘Patient Narratives’

We are looking for a third panelist for the 2005 OAH annual meeting in San Francisco, 31 March – 3 April, on the topic of “Patient Narratives.” The conference theme is “Telling America’s Stories,” and our proposed panel centers on the stories of health and disease from the patient’s perspective. One paper will examine American patients’ critique of medical authority during the influenza epidemic of 1918-1919 and the other paper will analyze the role of army medical officers as both patients and physicians in army tuberculosis hospitals, 1900-1930.

The deadline for proposal submission is January, 2004, and the OAH is encouraging work from across diverse disciplines, methodologies, and media. If you would like to join our panel, or know of someone who might be interested, please contact us.
