PhD Degree at The Unit for History and Philosophy of Science, University of Sydney
The Unit for History and Philosophy of Science (in association with the Centre for the Foundations of Science) at the University of Sydney invites applications from highly motivated and qualified students from outside Australia and New Zealand who wish to enroll for the PhD degree here. With the presence of both the Unit for HPS and the Centre for the Foundations of Science, the University of Sydney has an unusual research strength in the field of history and philosophy of science. We are able to offer a limited number of fee waivers and scholarships for qualifying students. Candidates should work in one of the areas of research covered by the staff of the Unit for HPS and have a commitment to interdisciplinary, collaborative, and innovative work. Candidates should submit a letter of interest, a CV, and a project outline of no more than 1,000 words, and have a letter of recommendation sent to Hans Pols, Postgraduate Coordinator of the Unit for HPS, at [email protected], who will then inform you about the additional steps that need to be taken. Applications for entrance in August 2009 should be received in full by 30 Nov. 2008.
Naturally, we are also eager to hear from students from Australia and New Zealand. For them, application procedures for entrance to the PhD degree and for scholarships are slightly different. For March 2009 entry, applications have to be received by Oct. 31, 2008.
