|Purdue University’s School of Engineering Education seeks a post-doctoral researcher to create a series of learning modules on the historical development and contemporary state of engineering and engineering education in China. In addition to identifying pre-existing materials and resources to include in these modules, the researcher will develop new content based on archival research and first-hand observations and interviews. This individual will also assist with developing, delivering, and assessing online/multimedia and face-to-face versions of the learning modules.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. or equivalent in the social sciences or humanities. An ideal candidate will have previous experience working with engineers and/or engineering organizations. The successful applicant must be very well organized and be able to work both independently and on a team. Strongest candidates will have relevant qualitative research skills and content development experience. Individuals with Chinese language expertise and/or extensive knowledge of Chinese history, society, and culture are especially encouraged to apply. Good proficiency in English (oral and written) is also highly desirable.
Preferred start date is October, 2009, with an expected term of appointment of 12-16 months. The position will include competitive salary and benefits, and the successful applicant will participate in a comprehensive mentoring plan.
