Postdoctoral research: Barcelona

The Centre d’Estudis d’Història de les Ciències (CEHIC) at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona is willing to support an application for a Postdoctoral research stay at the center (PhD completed later than 1 January 2001), to be financed by the Mobility programme of the Spanish Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia (“modalidad C”). Call and forms to be found at:

http://www.mec.es/universidades/am/index.html

To summarize the main conditions: the stay should last between 9 and 18 months, and begin between 1 June 2007 and 1 May 2008; gross anual salary is 26,600 plus up to 3,000 € to cover travel and moving expenses.

Some knowledge of Spanish is naturally required in order to navigate the call and fill the application, which has to be submitted by the centre. Also, the research project should be related to one of the research lines or projects of the Centre, among them: Science and the public (Dr Agustí Nieto-Galan and Dr Àlvar Martínez Vidal); History of 20th century physics (Dr Xavier Roqué); History of public health and colonial medicine (Dr Jorge Molero); History of the human sciences (Dr Annette Muhlberger).

The internal deadline for applications is 8 January 2007, but do please bear in mind they take time to fill. Potential applicants should get in touch with Dr. Xavier Roqué <[email protected]>, the sooner the better.

The Centre for History of Science (former Seminar for History of Science) was established in 1983 and it now coordinates the one official, ECTS-based Masters in History of Science in Spain, run jointly by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and the Universitat de Barcelona.
