Following a recent call for funding, it is a pleasure to announce that the BSHS will be sponsoring three themed one-day meetings in 2016, in lieu of a Britain-based annual conference. We advertised for meetings which explored themes of general HSTM interest and built in elements of professional development and / or public engagement; and the submitted proposals did not disappoint.
In addition to awarding standard conference grants of £300 to four of the proposed events, the BSHS is funding three meetings to their full requested amounts of up to £2000:
- Science in Public: Past, Present & Future (13-15 July 2016, Kent)
- Science and Islands in the early modern Indo-Pacific World (15-16 September, Cambridge)
- Object Lessons and Nature Tables: Research Collaborations Between University Museums and Historians of Science (23 September 2016, Reading)
Please watch the BSHS website for further updates about these meetings and information about how BSHS members can become involved. The Society’s EGM – when new Officers and Council members are voted in – will take place at the Kent meeting in July.
