Registration for the 2012 3-Society Meeting in beautiful Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (11-14 July) is now open. The registration link and a host of other information may be found at Over 250 scholars from Great Britain, Canada, the United States and around the world will attend this quadrennial conference and a glance at the preliminary program will reveal the many interesting sessions to be offered: All sessions, save the opening reception at the Chemical Heritage Foundation, will be held on the University of Pennsylvania campus. Air conditioned dorms on the Penn campus are available and for those wanting plusher accommodations, we have reserved a block of rooms at the Sheraton Philadelphia University City Hotel – both are within an easy walk of the conference site.

Due to the generosity of the University of Pennsylvania and the Chemical Heritage Foundation (and other donors), the conference costs have been heavily subsidized. Graduate students in particular will benefit from these donors’ assistance (students may contact the HSS office at [email protected] to volunteer for the meeting in exchange for registration). And because we want every student to be able to attend the closing banquet, students’ dinner tickets are less than the cost of dining out in Philly. Additionally, travel grants are available for students and independent scholars to offset the cost of attending the meeting. Preference will be given to HSS or CSHPS members who are on the program (the British Society for the History of Science is offering travel grants to their students).  Contact the HSS office to apply.

Philadelphia offers a diverse palette of tempting sites for historians and philosophers of science and attendees will have the option of several fascinating tours, such as the Mütter Museum, arranged in cooperation with the Philadelphia Area Center for the History of Science.  We hope to see you in Philly.
