The University of Wisconsin-Stout, a fully accredited and career oriented institution located in western Wisconsin, 60 miles east of Minneapolis/St. Paul, with a student population of 8,800, invites applications for a tenure-track, assistant professor position in history commencing August, 2009. The successful candidate will normally teach 12 credit hours per semester of history of science/technology and other history offerings including world survey courses and upper-level courses reflecting the University’s commitments to general education, diversity/ ethnic studies, and globalization; and contribute to the development and implementation of a new major in Applied Social Science. Engage in scholarly activity and pursue external funding.

Ph.D. in History by the beginning of the appointment, with major fields in science/technology and a non-Western region (such as Asian, Middle East, Latin America or Africa) is required. Candidate also must have the ability to contribute to the department’s other history offerings. Demonstrated potential to effectively teach undergraduate non-majors, collaborate, and engage in scholarship are also required. An interest in on-line delivery is a plus.
