‘Preparing to Present’ 11 March 2017
Museum of Science and Industry, Manchester
The British Society for the History of Science welcome postgraduate students to apply for a free place at this workshop, tailored for masters level and early stage PhD students. The aim of the day is to improve both skills and confidence in presenting academic papers. The workshop will include a session on ‘presenting with confidence’ with an experienced postgraduate training professional. Following this, participants will be able to workshop material and practice presenting with peers, led by BSHS postgraduate representatives.
The workshop is free to postgraduate members of the BSHS, who will also be eligible to apply for support with travel via the Butler-Eyles fund: http://www.bshs.org.uk/grants/butler-eyles-travel-grants
Successful applicants will be required to prepare a five to ten minute presentation or poster (this does not need to be a finished piece of work, but the basic framework for a paper intended to be presented at a conference). There are twenty free places for this one-off event. Please outline in no more than 300 words why you would benefit from attending this free training session.
Due to the high level of interest in this workshop, we have extended our deadline for Expressions of Interest deadline to 8 February.
