On October 12 and 13, the University of Michigan will host an international interdisciplinary conference provocatively titled AGAINST HEALTH. The conference will call on the expertise of an array of disciplines to examine the ways in which the category of ‘health,’ the norms associated with health, and the social functioning of those norms are, in some instances, at odds with human well being.
The conference is free and open to the public, but advance registration is required at www.umich.edu/againsthealth .
As the website details, the conference will move between large-group sessions and small-group, interactive workshops led by leading international scholars and activists. These workshops are aimed at faculty, graduate students, advanced undergraduates, and the general public. We hope that you will consider attending and, when relevant, assigning workshops for your classes and seminars.
