Danger – High Voltage: the rise of megavolt electricity supply in 20th century Britain

How did urban and rural publics respond to the risks and opportunities presented by high-voltage electricity?

This PhD project will use archival materials (including advertising), popular literature, film and oral history to investigate the popular, visual and material culture of megavolt electricity supply in modern Britain.

The Museum’s archives include the papers of the UK Electricity Council and Ferranti company.
