The Department of History at the University of California, San Diego (http://historyweb.ucsd.edu), intends to appoint an assistant or early career associate professor (tenure-track / tenured) in History of Science, beginning July 1, 2004. We seek an energetic and enthusiastic colleague who will contribute to all areas of our program–research, teaching, service–and participate in UCSD’s inter-disciplinary graduate program in Science Studies. Field and geographic area are open, but strong preference will be given to applicants whose work firmly integrates the content of science with its cultural context. The committee will conduct preliminary interviews at the annual meeting of the History of Science Society in November. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience and publications, based on published salary schedules of the University of California.
