The Center for History of Physics of the American Institute of Physics invites applications for its postdoctoral position for a scholar in the history of modern physics or an allied field such as astronomy or geophysics. The scholar’s effort will be divided in three roughly equal ways: (1) independent scholarly research and publication in the field, (2) oral history interviewing and other work to preserve historical materials (some of this could be related to the independent research), and (3) management and innovation in the Center’s Web-based and other educational and public outreach programs. There are also opportunities to teach part-time in area universities. Employment can start at any time with an initial term of one year, renewable for two more years. Salary is low $30s to high $40s; travel funds and excellent benefits are available. The applicant must have a PhD in hand or soon to be awarded in the history of science or a related area.
