4th Augustin Cournot Doctoral Days (ACDD)

10-12 April 2007

The PhD students of the Augustin Cournot Doctoral School are pleased to announce the upcoming fourth edition of the ACDD to be held from the 10th to 12th April 2007 at the Université Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg, France. This interdisciplinary conference provides a stimulating environment in which international PhD students and young researchers can exchange their ideas with experienced researchers.

History of Science and Science & Technology Studies

The History of Science and Science & Technology Studies portion of the conference will focus notably on the history of science, technology and medicine, as well as sociology and other social studies of science. Papers on the following themes will be particularly welcomed: a.. Risk and regulation b.. Health and environment c.. Clinical medicine d.. Innovation in therapeutics e.. Physical and observatory sciences Sessions will not be limited to these topics.

MEETING ORGANIZATION Accepted papers will be presented in parallel sessions focusing on each domain. The format is a 20 minute presentation followed by 10 minutes of questions and discussion. Plenary sessions are scheduled during the three days with the participation of senior researchers.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION Interested PhD students are expected to submit an extended abstract in English (apx. 1 page and three keywords) in electronic form to the following address: [email protected] Submission should include the author’s name, affiliation, address, phone number and email.

FEES 60 euros. This covers registration, noon and evening meals.

IMPORTANT DATES Deadline for submission: 1 February 2007. Acceptance notification: 1 March 2007. Registration deadline: 15 March 2007. Communication of the full paper (optional – for publication on the ACDD website): 1 April 2007.
