Announces a Change in Rules Governing Membership

Membership is now open to anyone interested in the history of medicine and health; those wishing to contribute to current work in the field are especially encouraged to become members. Previously, two references had to be provided upon application for membership, but these are no longer required. The name of the Association is only due to the fact that it is based in Europe: residency in Europe is not a requirement, nor is a research subject orientated to the history of medicine and health in Europe.

The Association: organises an academic meeting every other year (the next one to be held in Paris on 7-10 September 2005) offers a high-level interdisciplinary and international forum for studies in the history of medicine and health promotes and fosters research, teaching, and international scientific cooperation between individuals as well as with related national and international societies fosters research networks advances the education of the public in the historical aspects of the history of medicine and health publishes a newsletter and supports a website
