His many books and articles have won him international acclaim as one of the foremost historians of nineteenth and twentieth century American science and medicine. This is an opportunity to talk with one of the leaders in the field about what this subject means to him.
Professor Warner will open the discussion with a brief talk about his work. Participants are encouraged to read his essay, ‘Grand Narrative and Its Discontents: Medical History and the Social Transformation of American Medicine’, Journal of Health Policy, Politics and Law, 29 (2004): 757-780.
