Leeds HPS/Philosophy Graduate Teaching Assistantships 2012-15: Deadline Monday 26th March

The School of Humanities at Leeds intends to offer two Graduate Teaching Assistantships in Philosophy or History and Philosophy of Science for its full-time PhD programmes.

The scholarships are available from 19th September 2012 and consist in a payment of £12000 per annum for teaching and maintenance, along with a full fee waiver for Home/EU students and partial fee waiver (equivalent to full Home/EU rate) for international students.

The scholarships are available only to new PhD applicants, not to currently registered PhD students.

Scholarship recipients are expected to provide teaching and teaching support for Philosophy/HPS for up to six hours per week on average. Appropriate training is normally compulsory for all holders of these awards.

These awards are tenable for one year in the first instance in the School of Humanities, and are renewable annually for your second and third years of study, subject to satisfactory academic progress, satisfactory performance in teaching, and on condition that you are successful in the ‘transfer’ process and eligible for full PhD registration at the start of your second year of research.

The awards must be taken up by no later than 19th September 2012 and registration must be completed by that date (the award cannot be deferred).

In addition to the Graduate Teaching Assistantships there are a number of University Research Scholarships<http://www.leeds.ac.uk/rsa/postgraduate_scholarships/urs-arts> for which Philosophy and HPS students are eligible. Full details of this scholarship, including information on how to apply, can be found on the Postgraduate Scholarships Office<http://scholarships.leeds.ac.uk/> website.
