LATEST NEWS FROM THE ORGANISERS AT ST ANDREWS AHEAD OF #BSHS2014:
We look forward to welcoming you to St Andrews, where it is currently warm
and sunny. This email contains information to assist your arrival, and
details of how to sign-up for the library and museum tours on Thursday
afternoon and Friday.
1. GETTING TO ST ANDREWS
The university website has advice on getting to St Andrews, including links
to the relevant timetables. Leuchars is the nearest train station, 5 miles
away, and there is a regular bus service to St Andrews bus station. Those
arriving at Edinburgh airport should take bus/tram, and then train to
2. ARRIVING AT ST ANDREWS ON THURSDAY
We recommend you go to your accommodation first (check-in at both Halls is
from 14:00), and then come up to the historic heart of the university for
Thursday afternoon’s activities (see below). We will have a meet-and-greet
team at St Andrews bus station from 13:00 to 16:00 to point you in the right
direction. Maps will be available there, and at your Halls, to enable you to
get to Lower College Hall, in St Salvator’s Quad, by 16:00. For those who
want to know now, walking routes are marked on this Google map.
Registration will be open from 15:30 at Lower College Hall (and at the main
conference venue, the Gateway Building, from 8.30 every morning).
3. MUSEUM AND LIBRARY TOURS
We have a range of tours and events on Thursday afternoon and Friday. Some
of these have limited capacity, and we invite you to sign-up in advance on
