Modernism in the Sciences, ca. 1900-1940

The conference – being the final event in a series on “Science in the Age of Extremes: The Culture and Politics of Research in the 20th Century” organised by Frankfurt’s “Netzwerk Wissenschaftsgeschichte” and jointly sponsored by the Visiting Fellowship “Science and Society” of Deutsche Bank AG and Frankfurt’s SFB/FK 435 “Knowledge Culture and Social Change” – will discuss the mutual relations between reconfigurations of scientific research and modernist trends in early 20th century culture.

Topics discussed will relate to the Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Life Sciences and Chemistry, Economics and Legal Theory, Human Sciences, Literature and Art.

The conference is open to the public.
