National Life Stories runs a national oral history fieldwork programme collecting interviews with people from a wide cross-section of British life for public access at the British Library.  Visit www.bl.uk/nls for more information. 

An Oral History of British Science is a major new initiative to create an archive for the study and public understanding of contemporary science and technology in Britain through 200 in-depth interviews with British scientists.

We are now seeking a Senior Academic Consultant with a track-record in the contemporary history of science to help us shape and manage the project; and two Oral History Interviewers to collect life story interviews with British scientists in both audio and video formats.

These are flexible freelance consultancies, commanding attractive fees over a three year period commensurate with experience.

You will be asked to upload details of your CV and then write a covering statement (no longer than 4000 characters including spaces) to explain how your experience and skills meet the minimum requirements specified in the job profile.

For the Senior Academic Consultant:
All applications must be received by Sunday 16 August 2009.
Interviews will take place at the British Library on Wednesday 26 August 2009.

For the Oral History Interviewers:
All applications must be received by Sunday 23 August 2009.
Interviews will take place at the British Library on Monday 7 September and Tuesday 8 September 2009.
