You are cordially invited to our fourth annual conference, organised jointly by the History of Nursing Society of the Royal College of Nursing and the School of Health Science, Swansea University, Wales.

This one day conference will be devoted to research in the history of Nursing, Public Health and Welfare. Abstracts are invited for papers that address these major historical themes as they inform study of the history of nursing.

Papers might explore:

The influence of Nursing on Sanitary and Poor Law Reform.

District nursing and health visiting in the changing world of primary health care.

Issues in the training, education and professional status of Community Nursing, Midwifery and Health Visiting.

Health Promotion and the New Public Health.

Public Health Practitioners’ engagement with the social and environmental determinants of health.

Abstracts:

Abstracts of no more than 300 words must be submitted by 31st May 2007. The abstract must include complete title and be double spaced. On separate page, please include author’s name and institutional affiliation. Also, contact details to include, telephone number, email address and full postal address as well as any audio-visual requirements. If your abstract is accepted you will need to register and pay for the conference by 1^st September 2007.(Cheques to be made payable to the ‘Royal College of Nursing’).
