Postdoctoral Research Assistant (part-time .8fte) School of Arts and Humanities, Oxford Brookes University

Salary: pro-rata to £23,182

This Wellcome Trust-funded research post, to assist Dr Andrew Spicer in his research on Medical Provision and the Huguenots, is a fixed-term appointment from 1 November 2005 to 17 July 2006.

You will be responsible for… undertaking archival and primary source research in the UK on the poor relief records of the immigrant communities of sixteenth century London and Sandwich creating a transcript of the records and establishing a database from them using published and unpublished material to create a prosopography of the recipients of relief and those paid for their professional services You should have… a PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant area experience in archival and primary source research in the UK the ability to work independently excellent report writing skills palaeographic skills working knowledge of the French language Ref: 342/15605/SK

Closing date: 9 September 2005 Interviews are expected to be held on Thursday 29 September 2005

Training in teaching methods is provided for those without relevant experience.
