Postgraduate Studentships

Postgraduate Studentships at Queen’s University, Belfast

Two postgraduate studentships are available for study leading to the award of a PhD in the History of Science. The successful candidates will be expected to work under the supervision of Prof. Peter J. Bowler and contribute to his current project on the popularization of science in early twentieth century Britain. It is anticipated that the main areas of study will be the coverage of science in the national newspapers and the promotion of science in museums and exhibitions.

Applicants should have or expect to have a Masters degree (or a high first class honours degree), preferably in the history of science, although equivalent qualifications in related areas such as cultural history will also be considered.

Closing date for applications is 30 April 2005. Application forms are available from www.qub.ac.uk/pao. For further details contact Prof Bowler at [email protected] .
