Oxford Brookes was the top performing modern university in the 2001 RAE, but recognises that improved research performance is critical to its ambition to move forward. Research has therefore been given a high priority over recent years with targeted investment in areas where the University can realistically expect an improved performance in 2008.

You will be responsible for:

* maintaining a strong international profile in the History of Medicine * maintaining a strong portfolio of externally funded projects * developing the careers of less senior scholars in the Centre for Health, Medicine and Society * undergraduate and postgraduate teaching * departmental and Centre administration

You should have:

* a PhD or equivalent in History, History of Medicine or a closely related field * an internationally recognised research profile * a strong RAE return * strong links with the thematic priorities of the Centre for Health, Medicine and Society * an ability to make links from the History of Medicine to the wider thematic priorities of the Department of History
