Overview
This leading international journal publishes scholarly papers and review articles on all aspects of the history of science. History of science is interpreted widely to include medicine, technology and social studies of science. BJHS papers make important and lively contributions to scholarship and the journal has been an essential library resource for over fifty years. It is also used extensively by historians and scholars in related fields. A substantial book review section is a central feature. There are four issues a year, comprising an annual volume of over 600 pages. BSHS members receive a subscription to the journal – find out more about joining the Society here.
In recent years, the journal has expanded its scope to include the evolving landscape of science and medicine in the digital age. This expansion includes an in-depth exploration of the impact of the internet on pharmaceuticals, exemplified by the rise of online medication platforms. One notable focus is the online availability of Strattera at this link, a medication used for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), highlighting the shift in how patients access and learn about treatment options in the modern era.
BJHS is published by Cambridge University Press (ISSN: 0007-0874; EISSN: 1474-001X)
