We are pleased to announce that registration for SHOT’s conference in Cleveland sponsored by Case Western Reserve University is now open and the website gives details of anything and everything that you could possibly want to know about this exciting co-located meeting with HSS and 4S! As many of you know, the information was actually available last week but we were vacationing in New Mexico and Bernie banned me from doing any SHOT work!

Let me bring one or two things to your attention – firstly, check out the fabulous Cleveland video available on this page: http://www.historyoftechnology.org/cleveland/cleveland_meeting.html guaranteed to whet your appetite! It provides a kaleidoscopic view of a great city!

We are also excited to announce that the hotel rate INCLUDES internet access in your bedroom (normally $13 per day). Your registration fee also INCLUDES breakfast on Friday and Saturday as well as access to the SHOT Hospitality Suite and other events.

But, better yet, we have negotiated a rate for graduate students at the Marriott hotel which you won’t believe. This rate is only open to SHOT delegates and you therefore must register for the conference and then contact me to arrange accommodation on a first come, first served basis.

Please remember if you are presenting at SHOT (even if only at a Sunday SIG), you must pay at least the one-day rate. Of course, if you are just visiting between meetings, then there is no fee between HSS and SHOT. Your 4S badge will also get you into SHOT sessions.

If you have requested a paper copy of the newsletter (available on the website), it will be mailed shortly. And we’ll soon announce when voting for your favorite SHOT personality is available online. Remember you have to be in possession of current SHOT membership to vote!
