The periodic table is probably the most famous chart in all of science. But what is its history? How does it relate to quantum physics? And is there an optimal form it should take? UCLA chemist Eric Scerri will investigate. Eric Scerri is a lecturer in the department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of California Los Angeles. He is particularly interested in the philosophical aspects of chemistry. He literally wrote the book on the periodic table, and will explore the history of the periodic table as well as how suitable it is in modern science.
