Fleming Centenary Conference – MODIFIED CALL FOR PAPERS

CALL FOR PAPERS A conference is to be held from 30th June 2004 to 1st July 2004 at University College, London on ‘The Life, Work and Legacy of John Ambrose Fleming’. Papers on all aspects of Fleming’s life are requested, and short abstracts (c500 words) in electronic form should be sent to: Dr Colin A Hempstead, [email protected] Abstracts should be received by 31st December 2003. Further Details Fleming was one of the first electronic engineers and this conference while ‘celebrating’ his life and work is concerned more generally with the history of electronics. So while contributions are welcome which address directly Fleming’s work in science, in education, and in engineering, the organisers which to encourage papers from a wide temporal perspective. Papers are expected to range from the mid-19th century to the 21st century, and to address all aspects of science and engineering, both social and technical. The organisers intend to arrange for a collection of papers to be published in due course. Authors who wish that their work be considered for publication should bear this in mind both when preparing the abstracts and submitting papers.
