The Huntington-USC Institute on California and the West seeks applications from recent PhDs whose work explores the history of the American West. The Institute is offering a two-year postdoctoral appointment beginning in the fall of 2007. The Institute on California and the West is a collaborative research and teaching initiative established between the Huntington Library and the University of Southern California (www.usc.edu/icw). The position is to be split between a research appointment at the Huntington and a half-time teaching position in the history department at USC. One course of the two per year will be devoted to assisting in the instruction of a research-intensive undergraduate course. Candidates must have completed their PhD by June 2007.
