The position is responsible for managing a collection of approximately 100,000 visual items on the social and cultural history of medicine, including an extensive public health poster collection, a medical portraiture collection and fine arts on medical themes. A major venture of the program is “Images from the History of Medicine,” an online illustrated catalog that comprises the majority of the collection.
The position is within the Images and Archives Section of the History of Medicine Division at the National Library of Medicine, in Bethesda, Maryland, a suburb of Washington, DC.
